Very little research has been done in veterinary homeopathy. In fact, there are barely 20 full research papers published in the entire peer-reviewed journal literature! From those papers, we have highlighted 12 that report positive findings for homeopathy: Table 4 shows the conditions and species for which there is statistically favourable evidence for homeopathy in published RCT research, where comparison has been with placebo or with another medication. In two of these studies, homeopathy was at least as effective as antibiotic treatment. Table 4 also gives the conditions and species for which positive findings have been obtained in research that does not have a control group (clinical outcome studies). Our approach to the veterinary research literature is similar to that adopted in our appraisal of homeopathic research in humans (see Clinical research in homeopathy with positive findings) This analysis has been restricted to published research in veterinary medicine only. It explicitly excludes any research that has involved the use of laboratory animals. |
