Indications on over-the-counter homeopathic medicines welcomed 01-09-2006, 11:22 am The British Homeopathic Association and Faculty of Homeopathy welcome the implementation of the National Rules Scheme of the Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Authority (MHRA)¹, which will allow the inclusion of therapeutic indications on over-the-counter (OTC) homeopathic medicines from today, 1 September 2006. John Saxton, President of the Faculty of Homeopathy, said: “The inclusion of therapeutic indications on the labels of over-the-counter homeopathic medicines will make homeopathy more accessible to the public, allowing people to select remedies for minor acute, self-limiting ailments such as nausea, headache, skin conditions and digestive complaints. This is a step in the right direction for those who believe in the importance of patient choice.” ¹ The National Rules Scheme of the MHRA comes from Article 16.2 of the European Medicines Directive 2001/83/EC.
