The Faculty publishes the leading international journal of homeopathy,

Simile
Keep in touch with your Faculty colleagues through our membership newsletter, also published quarterly and mailed with Homeopathy. Informal in style, Simile includes news stories from the Faculty and beyond, latest developments in each of the professions, details of local group events and reports of homeopathic events around the world.

Members are warmly encouraged to contribute articles and items of interest.

Email Sarah Buckingham at sbuckingham@trusthomeopathy.org for further information.

British Homeopathic Library and Hom-Inform
The British Homeopathic Library based in Glasgow Homeopathic Hospital is the most comprehensive collection of books, journals and audio tapes in the UK. All Faculty members are automatically enrolled as members and may use its services at substantially reduced rates.

The Library also provides online access to its Hom-Inform database, containing 26,000 indexed references to homeopathic literature with some abstracts at www.hom-inform.org

Local group network
A network of local groups throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland provide opportunities for CPD and the chance to make contact with other members either socially or to share experiences. Local groups receive a small rebate from each member's subscription to support their activities so it's worth getting involved!

Website and discussion forum
Our website, shared with the British Homeopathic Association, contains a broad range of information about courses in homeopathy, the Faculty itself, local events and the case for homeopathy. Members also have access to a research discussion forum which can be used for contributing to ongoing research discussion. The site also contains links to other relevant sites such as the British Homeopathic Library and the Faculty's journal, Homeopathy.

A practitioner directory on the BHA section of the site enables members of the public to search for Faculty members included in the list sent to the public on request (see Promotion to the public, below).

Promotion to the public
Faculty members who have gained one of the Faculty's qualifications (LFHom, DFHom, MFHom, FFHom, VetMFHom or VetFFHom) may choose to have their practice details published in a booklet which is sent to members of the public on request. The Practitioner List includes the full range of professions in addition to doctors, dentists and vets. Some 6,000 copies are distributed by the BHA each year.

Many of the requests for this list are the result of media coverage mentioning the BHA and Faculty of Homeopathy as well as advertising in selected editions of Yellow Pages.

Each year we participate in Homeopathy Awareness Week (14-21 June) and encourage members to make the most of this promotional opportunity.

Promotion materials and literature
The Faculty now has a wide range of high quality materials to help members promote homeopathy. These include four different resource packs (one aimed at persuading the NHS to fund more homeopathy; one specifically for GPs wanting to understand more about homeopathy; one aimed at helping private practitioners build their practice and one specifically for dental homeopathy). In addition we have a set of slides for giving introductory talks to other health care professionals, What is Homeopathy? leaflets for waiting rooms and a patient guide, How to obtain homeopathic treatment on the NHS. We also encourage members to invite their patients to become Friends of the BHA and we can provide Friends leaflets on request.

Corporate membership of international homeopathic organisations
Members and Fellows receive corporate membership of the leading international homeopathic body Liga Medicorum Homoeopathica Internationalis (LIGA) and of the European Committee for Homeopathy (ECH). The Faculty is represented at the highest levels in both these organisations and plays an active part in the international community.

Research
In an initiative funded by the BHA, we are building a 'culture' of research within the Faculty's membership. Our Research Development Adviser is pleased to offer guidance and support for members developing research protocols and grant proposals. He can also facilitate collaborative effort with other Faculty colleagues and/or with researchers based in university departments. The work has grown from a series of Research Methods courses that began in the UK in 2002. An important assessment of the research evidence base in homeopathy was published in the Faculty's journal Homeopathy in 2003.

This website contains an up-to-date appraisal of Research in Homeopathy and also a Research Discussion Forum. A separate section describes the BHA/Faculty's research strategy in more detail.
