Things to consider before you have homeopathic treatment

Before making an appointment
Before making an appointment, you are advised to ensure that you are satisfied with the level of fee you will be charged (fees for the first appointment are generally higher as this may last up to an hour), payment arrangements, cancellation charges (if any), reduced fees for children and the elderly and arrangements for urgent appointments if needed.

Preparing for your appointment
To get the most out of an appointment, it is helpful to make some notes beforehand and to think through all the issues that are affecting your health.

Some homeopathic practitioners ask new patients to complete a questionnaire before their first appointment - this is a helpful way of saving time and to your advantage to do so if requested.

Should I tell my GP, vet or dentist?
If you are consulting a homeopathic doctor privately
If you feel comfortable to do so, it is very helpful to tell your GP. Your homeopathic doctor may ask your permission to contact your GP to say that they are treating you. This will allow them to share important information. However, they will not do so if you do not give your permission.

If you are consulting a homeopathic vet
Most of the vets in this directory ask new patients to contact the veterinary surgeon with whom their pets are registered for permission to provide a homeopathic consultation and treatment. When asking for an appointment it is advisable to check if this is the case.

If you are consulting a homeopathic dentist
If you feel comfortable to do so, it is very helpful to tell your dentist. Your homeopathic dentist may ask your permission to contact your dentist to say that they are treating you. This will allow them to share important information. However, they will not do so if you do not give your permission.
