Homeopathy - a strong tradition...a bright future

By remembering the BHA in your Will you can help ensure that the benefits of homeopathy are available to future generations. It will cost you nothing today, but will make all the difference to the BHA in the future.

A vital source of income
The BHA relies solely on voluntary donations. A high proportion of valuable income comes from legacies left by people who share our commitment to homeopathy. Without such legacies we would not be able to sustain and develop our important work. Any legacy - no matter how large or small - is always put to the best possible use. For example, money donated through legacies enables us:

  • To provide high quality information to the public about the benefits of homeopathy through our website, the media and our magazine Health and Homeopathy

  • To educate more doctors and other statutorily registered health professionals in homeopathy so that it becomes fully integrated into our healthcare system

  • To encourage more research into the effectiveness of homeopathy in order to convince government and decision-makers that it works

  • To promote wider access to homeopathy for everyone, by piloting primary care homeopathy clinics, lobbying the NHS and providing a patient advisory service

Here are some questions that people often ask about leaving a legacy:

Q I have already made my Will. Is it too late to leave a legacy to the BHA?

A No. You can amend your Will as often as you like. All you need to do is instruct your solicitor to draw up a codicil. It is witnessed in exactly the same way as a Will and the two documents must be stored together.

Q I have not made a Will yet? What do I have to do?

A First find a solicitor. They will make sure that your Will reflects your wishes. Making a Will needn't be an expensive business if you do some homework before visiting a solicitor. List your assets and decide who you want to benefit. Start with your family and friends and then think of the charities you would like to help in the future.

Q I don't have much money to leave. Do I still need to make a Will?

A You'll probably be surprised by how much you have to leave once you've added up the value of your home and contents, bank accounts and other assets. By making a Will you can be sure that the things you own go to the people you care about. It will also spare your family a great deal of distress.

Q How will the BHA use my legacy?

A Your legacy will be put to very good use. All our projects aim to make homeopathy more widely available so more people can benefit from this safe, effective and gentle approach to health.

If you would like to remember the British Homeopathic Association in your will, there are several kinds of legacy you can leave:

  • A residual legacy - is a bequest of part of, or the remainder of, your estate once your family have been provided for
  • A pecuniary legacy - is a specified sum of money determined when the will or codicil is written
  • A specific legacy - is the gift of a particular item of value
